Video: SF Giants’ prospect Joey Bart records first major league hit against Angels
A new era of Giants baseball is officially underway.
SAN FRANCISCO — The scouting report on Joey Bart says the Giants’ catching prospect will make a pitcher pay for a mistake over the heart of the plate.
One day in, the scouting report looks pretty accurate.
In the bottom of the sixth inning on Thursday at Oracle Park, Bart lined a 109.5-mile per hour double over the head of Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon in the midst of a rally for the Giants offense.

His extra-base hit into the left field corner off Angels reliever Julio Teheran marked the first hit of the 23-year-old’s career as he made his major league debut in the series finale.
The Giants were ahead 9-4 when Bart’s double moved first baseman Brandon Belt from first base into scoring position after Belt blooped a single into left field to open the inning.
Bart was hit by a pitch in his first career plate appearance Thursday and also struck out with the bases loaded, but it’s his 109.5 mile per hour double that reminded Giants fans why the club was so excited to call him up.
It's Joey Bart szn.
