Campbell community briefs for the week of Dec. 11
Toy drive ‘pods’ needed
The Campbell Chamber of Commerce is looking for “pods” of volunteers to help with its annual toy program.
Rather than having a large group of people volunteer together as is usual, groups of about 10 are being sought to sort, bag or distribute toys. These group should be made up of people who operate in a social pod.
The Chamber has received approval from Santa Clara County to hold these activities indoors as long as strict social distancing protocols are observed. Temperatures will be checked, face coverings worn, and other health and safety procedures will be in place.
To volunteer, contact Teresa at Teresa@CampbellChamber.net.
Visit CampbellToyProgram.com for information on more ways to help, including making a monetary donation and purchasing toys on Amazon Smile, as well as a list of 2020 drop-off locations.
Winter wildlife talks
The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority has a couple online events lined up for those interested in how local wildlife spends the winter months.
The authority will present “A Healthy Way to Help Winter Wildlife” on Dec. 11, when residents can learn how to create backyard sanctuaries for critters struggling to find enough food and shelter during the cold months. This Zoom presentation is set for noon-12:45 p.m.
On Dec. 18 authority educational aide Kat and wildlife enthusiast Rick host “Kat’s Tracks,” using tracking and other methods to find out what wildlife do and where they hang out in the winter. The presentation is set for noon-1 p.m.
