On Thursday, a day after a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to undercut the nation’s democracy and keep President-Elect Joe Biden from replacing Trump in the White House, security personnel, lawmakers, and staff inspected the damage and cleaned the building.
“Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy says a 7-foot non-scalable fence will be erected around the Capitol grounds in the wake of the storming of the Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump,” according to the Associated Press.
“McCarthy said the fencing would be up for a minimum of 30 days. That period encompasses the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.”
