‘PUBG: New State’ a new battle royale experience built from the ground up for mobile
Taking place in the year 2051, 'PUBG: New State" is built from the ground up for mobile and drops players into a massive 8x8 battlegrounds.
“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” is expanding its slate of battle royale titles with a new entry to the franchise. Slated for release on iOS and Android devices in 2021, “PUBG: New State” sets its multiplayer experience in the future and drops players into new 8×8 maps.
More importantly, the game is built from the ground up and optimized for mobile players. It takes advantage of more powerful smartphone hardware and introduces graphics that are on par with consoles. It will feature Global Illumination rendering technology to heighten the visual realism as well as provide stable and smooth gameplay, according Krafton.
Because it’s set in 2051, players can expect futuristic touches to the combat. Players can drive high-tech vehicles and use fancy drones to apparently scout and attack adversaries. They’ll also find ballistic shields to create their own cover in a pinch.
Krafton said players can expect a new in-game customization feature that lets players “make various weapons their own by obtaining customization kits.” They give guns performance enhancements, fire mode selection and even a grenade launcher in some cases.
The new map that players will be exploring is called TROI, and it’s filled with interactable objects that can be used in strategies, the developer said in a news release. Fans of the other titles shouldn’t worry. Krafton said “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrouns” and “PUBG Mobile” will continue to be supported and operated as standalone games.
