OAKLAND — Businesses and residences in a Jack London District block were evacuated Thursday afternoon while investigators responded to a suspicious-package report, authorities said.
Shortly before 3 p.m., police received a report of the package in the 300 block of Embarcadero near Franklin Street. Authorities began reaching out to nearby businesses to clear them of vehicles and people.
In an e-mail alert, police said that bus and train traffic had been stopped in the area: “Ensuring our community is safe while we investigate. We have evacuated businesses in the surrounding areas.”
There were no initial reports of injuries.
