Campbell community briefs for the week of Sept. 10
Eagle donates bikes
Aseem Rajopadhye, a senior at Monta Vista High School, recently completed an Eagle Scout Project to help Rebekah Children’s Services by building and donating 22 bikes with helmets and first-aid kits for the foster youth served by the Campbell-based nonprofit. He recruited a team of 10 scouts and five adult volunteers for the project.
“I gained leadership experience,” Aseem says of managing his volunteers. “It is also giving us a great sense of satisfaction in imagining the happiness the bikes will bring to the children.”
“Each bike that we received from you went to a foster youth that has experienced a history of trauma,” Serena Misley, director of family linkage for Rebekah Children’s Services, wrote in a letter to Aseem.
