An Amber Alert was issued early Sunday morning after an SUV with a 2-year-old boy inside was stolen while his mother was unloading groceries, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
The alert came after a brown 2008 Buick Enclave was stolen about 3:51 a.m. from the 500 block of North Mathilda Avenue in Sunnyvale, police said. A toddler, Jacob Jardine, was in the vehicle when it was taken.
The vehicle had a “Baby On Board” sticker on it, as well as unknown paper plates. Its left headlight and taillight were out, and it had a spare tire on one of its wheels.
The boy has red curly hair and brown eyes, and he was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt when he was taken.
The California Highway Patrol said the vehicle was stolen by an unknown person. No other details of the incident were released.
The highway patrol is asking that anyone who sees the boy or the vehicle call 911.
