Three days after returning from illness to start in Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was missing at practice Wednesday.
Jackson, sidelined at Friday’s session by what he said was a stomach bug, played every offensive snap for the Ravens on Sunday. There was no indication he was hurt in the 13-3 victory, the team’s fourth straight win.
If Jackson can’t play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Ravens would turn to backup Tyler Huntley. Practice squad quarterback Anthony Brown would also likely be elevated for the Week 12 road trip. Coach John Harbaugh is scheduled to address reporters Wednesday afternoon.
Jackson was one of nine Ravens missing at practice. On offense, the team was also without tight end Mark Andrews, who returned from knee and shoulder injuries to play Sunday; left tackle Ronnie Stanley, who left Sunday’s game with an apparently minor ankle injury; and right guard Kevin Zeitler, who’s played every offensive snap for the Ravens this season. Practice squad wide receiver DeSean Jackson (hamstring) returned to practice after missing all of last week.
On defense, the Ravens were without defensive lineman Calais Campbell; outside linebacker Justin Houston; cornerbacks Marcus Peters and rookie Jalyn Amour-Davis, who missed Sunday’s game with a hip injury; and rookie safety Kyle Hamilton, who left the game with an apparently minor knee injury. Campbell, Houston and Peters typically get rest days during the week of practice.
More defensive help is on the way. Safety Marcus Williams, the team’s top free-agent signing, was designated to return from injured reserve and returned to practice Wednesday. Williams dislocated his wrist in a Week 5 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and Harbaugh said recently that he expected him to return in December. The Ravens have 21 days to activate Williams to their 53-man roster.
Despite playing in just five games, Williams is tied with cornerback Marlon Humphrey for the team lead in interceptions (three). Safety Geno Stone has filled in capably for Williams next to defensive leader and fellow starting safety Chuck Clark, playing every defensive snap over the past four weeks.
Williams, who signed a five-year, $70 million contract in March, has 33 tackles (one for loss), five passes defended and one fumble recovery this season.
