Pleasanton: Suspects sought in fatal stabbing during robbery attempt

0

PLEASANTON — Two ski-mask-wearing suspects were sought Monday in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man during an attempted robbery at an apartment complex, authorities said.

In limited statements Monday night, police said a witness told them of seeing the male suspects around 10:30 a.m.,  running from an apartment in the 5700 block of Owens Drive.

Moments later, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department firefighters responded to a report of a medical emergency at 10:35 a.m.

Police did not offer any information about the man, and an Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau deputy was not able to identify him Monday night.

The suspects were not found, but police said they believe the incident was isolated and there was no public threat. Police did not provide any detailed description of the suspects or any associated vehicle.

The stabbing comes less than two weeks after the fatal shooting of a loss prevention officer at a Pleasanton store. A pair of suspects were arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase along Interstate 580 to an East Oakland apartment complex. Both face hearings May 12 at Dublin’s East County Hall of Justice, according to a county records check Monday night.

Anyone with information may call Pleasanton police’s tip line at 925-931-5107.
