Man fatally shot at North Oakland motel

OAKLAND — A man died Sunday after a shooting at a North Oakland motel, authorities said.
Just before noon, police responded to reports of a possible shooting in the 700 block of West MacArthur Boulevard in the city’s Longfellow neighborhood.
When officers arrived minutes later at the Capri Motel, at 722 West MacArthur Blvd., they learned that a man had been shot.
His identity was not available, pending next-of-kin notification by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau.
Other officers responded to the scene, blocking off traffic along West MacArthur and working to recover evidence.
Police did not share word of any arrests, or any descriptions of associated suspects or vehicles in the incident.
The killing is the 35th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.
Police had investigated 40 homicides within the city at this same point in 2022.
