The Jets will finally end their playoff drought this season.

At least that is what Strat-O-Matic is predicting after the sports simulation company played out Gang Green’s season following last week’s official 2023 schedule release.

Strat-O-Matic has the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets finishing 10-7 and sixth in the AFC and securing one of the conference’s three wild card spots.

Now the bad news. In the simulation, the Jets lose to the Bills 38-14 in the wild card round.

The New York-based company has the Jets splitting games against the Bills and Miami Dolphins while sweeping the New England Patriots for the first time since 2000. The Jets other victories come against the Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns, with losses against the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, L.A. Chargers, Giants and Atlanta Falcons.

Strat-O-Matic also simulated Rodgers’ stats for his first season with the Jets. They have the four-time league MVP completing 373 of 568 passes (65.7%) for 4,209 yards, 36 touchdowns and eight interceptions with a passer rating of 102.9. In the playoff loss to the Bills, Rodgers completes 20 of 33 passes for 201 yards with a TD and an interception.

The primary beneficiary of the addition of Rodgers is wide receiver Garrett Wilson who is projected to finish with 87 receptions for 1,109 yards and 10 touchdowns. This is a slight improvement from his 2022 season, in which Wilson caught 83 passes for 1,103 yards and four TDs. Newest Jets receivers Allen Lazard (60 for 633 yards, five TDs) and Mecole Hardman (56 for 694 yards, five TDs) also play significant roles in the team’s offense.

Coming off his ACL tear last October, running back Breece Hall is projected to rush for 975 yards on 202 carries and six touchdowns. Zonovan Knight also rushes for 419 yards on 89 carries and five touchdowns.

For what it is worth, Strat-O-Matic’s prediction is similar to that of the Daily News. The News projected Robert Saleh’s team to finish 11-6 and also be a wild card team.

The Jets, who hold the longest playoff drought in the NFL, last played a playoff game following the 2010 season when they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship game.
