Los Gatos, San Jose: Willow Street restaurants mark 30th year with a new chef, a day of deals
Menu discounts scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 15
The Los Gatos and San Jose locations of Willow Street Pizza are celebrating the locally owned restaurants’ 30th anniversary with a new executive chef and a big day of deals for customers.
“If you look at restaurants in the South Bay that have been around over 30 years, it’s a short list, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this milestone anniversary with the people of Willow Glen and Los Gatos,” partner Ed Rathmann said in announcing the news.
On Wednesday, Nov. 15, the full menu at both locations will be 30% off. The Los Gatos restaurant serves from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. that day, and the San Jose one from 4 to 8:30 p.m.
Willow Street was founded in Willow Glen in 1991 by Rathmann and partners Glen Thompson and Miguel Romero, who saw a need for a wood-fired pizza restaurant in the neighborhood. They opened in 1993 in Los Gatos, and the menu at both locations grew to include pasta, salads, burgers, chicken and salmon entrees and a daily soup — along with the popular warm, house-baked rounds of Honey Wheat Bread, served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The beverage menu offers local wines, craft brews and signature cocktails.
Joining the team at this juncture as executive chef and partner is Hisham Abdelfattah, an industry veteran who owns El Halal Amigos restaurant in Willow Glen.
“Guests can continue to expect high-quality food and a family-friendly environment,” he said in the announcement, “but I look forward to refreshing the brand with seasonal specials and restaurant renovations to attract a whole new generation of guests.” He also plans to continue the Willow Street tradition of community philanthropy.
