Teen shot multiple times in East Oakland late Friday night

Police found the wounded 15-year-old after responding to a gunshot detection system alert, as well as calls from residents in the area.

OAKLAND — A 15-year-old boy was shot multiple times in East Oakland Friday night, authorities said. He was in critical but stable condition at a hospital by Saturday morning.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Friday, in the 2300 block of East 24th Street.

Police found the wounded youth after responding to a gunshot detection system alert, as well as calls from residents in the area. Police said they are still trying to confirm where the 15-year-old lives.

The shooting happened outside, according to police, and the victim may have been with other people when he was shot. No other injuries were reported.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined, and no arrests have been made.
