Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry to miss Saturday’s game against Milwaukee Bucks

Warriors are giving star Steph Curry the night off Saturday to rest in the middle of long Midwest trip.

Steph Curry will miss the Warriors’ game at Milwaukee on Saturday night to rest, the team announced.

The Warriors opened a four-game Midwest trip with a 140-131 comeback win in Chicago on Friday night. Curry played 35 minutes in the game, scoring 27 points on 24 shots from the field, including 6-of-15 from three-point range. He also had nine assists.

Curry, 35, has only missed two of the Warriors’ first 36 games. Golden State has a day game on Monday in Memphis before ending the trip Wednesday night in Utah.

With Curry on the bench, Brandin Podziemski and Cory Joseph figure to take larger roles against the Bucks. Podziemski, the Warriors’ promising rookie, grew up in the Milwaukee suburb of Greenfield.

Led by two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and former Trail Blazer star Damian Lillard, the Bucks (26-12) have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference and are 17-4 at home this season. Tipoff is 5 p.m. Pacific.

The Warriors (18-12) had lost six of its past eight games before Friday’s night’s comeback win that included a 48-point third quarter.

Golden State announced Friday before the game that Moses Moody will not play on this trip because of a calf strain. Chris Paul is out at least three weeks with a fractured left hand and Gary Payton II has a hamstring strain, and Draymond Green has still not returned to the court after coming off his NBA suspension.

Curry missed consecutive games in mid-November because of knee soreness but had not missed a game since.
