The Association of Bay Area Governments — the regional planning agency for nine Bay Area counties — swore in Napa County Supervisor Belia Ramos as its newest president in San Francisco on Friday. Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin was inaugurated as vice president of the organization for a second time.

Ramos served the last four years as vice president. She was elected to the Napa County Board of Supervisors in 2016 and reelected in 2020, after serving six years on the American Canyon City Council.

Arreguin served on the Berkeley City Council beginning in 2008, until his election as mayor in 2016. Before the City Council, Arreguin was elected to the city’s rent stabilization board in 2004. Arreguin’s first term as vice president of the Association of Bay Area Governments began in 2018.

Both Ramos and Arreguin will serve two-year terms.
