UPDATE: Santa Clara County search called off for suspect ‘considered dangerous’
Authorities had asked those in area to shelter in place while they looked for suspect in attempted murder case near Mt. Madonna Park in Gilroy.
UPDATE: The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office has called off the search for a 64-year-old male suspect in an attempted murder case near the 6000 block of Mt. Madonna Road in Gilroy.
The search near the area of Mt. Madonna Park was called off “due to lighting and terrain conditions” and the “park will remain closed for the remainder of the night,” according to a post made at 7:17 p.m. Saturday on the law agency’s X (formerly known as Twitter) page.
The suspect has fled the scene and was “armed and considered dangerous,” according to an earlier news release posted around 6 p.m. Saturday on the law agency’s Facebook page.
“If you live in the area, shelter in place,” the earlier news release reads. “If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, please call 9-1-1 immediately.”
No other information was immediately available.
