History Happy Hour in Campbell covers crazy Christmas customs
Christmas crazes
It’s no surprise that many Christmas traditions have come and gone. What is surprising is what some of those traditions were. Brian Earl, an author and podcaster best known for his “Christmas Past” podcast will be talking about some unusual holiday customs and presents on Nov. 14 at History Happy Hour at the Ainsley House in downtown Campbell. Copies of Earl’s book “Of Christmases Long, Long Ago” will be available for purchase and signing. Festive drinks will also be served.
The event runs 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ainsley House Visitor Center. Tickets are $25 at https://www.campbellmuseums.com/events-main or 408-866-2718.
Pajama days
Action Day Schools is holding its fifth annual pajama drive in partnership with West Valley Dance Company, which has studios at the private school’s Campbell campus as well as other Action Day locations.
Pajamas collected during the drive are given to clients of LiveMoves, a nonprofit that provides interim housing, customized supportive services and access to resources for individuals experiencing homelessness in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
Action Day is collecting new, unused pajamas at its Campbell campus, located at 1125 W. Campbell Ave., from Nov. 17-Dec. 5. Requested sizes are 3T and up for children and small and up for adults.
Over the years, Action Day Schools has collected over 5,000 pajamas for LifeMoves clients. Action Day Schools President Cathy Jelic says she wanted to ensure everyone coming into one of LifeMoves’ 26 interim housing communities had something clean and warm to sleep in.
