Suspect arrested in October stabbing on San Mateo County coast
SAN MATEO COUNTY – A months-long investigation into a stabbing on the San Mateo County coast culminated Tuesday in the arrest of a 40-year-old Redwood City man on suspicion of attempted murder, authorities said.
The stabbing happened around 12:15 a.m. on Oct. 5 at Old Princeton Landing, a bar and restaurant at 460 Capistrano Road. The 29-year-old victim survived and has since been released from the hospital, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office released photos of the suspect the day after the stabbing. Tips from the public helped deputies identify him as Miguel Rodriguez, authorities said.
Deputies obtained a warrant for Rodriguez’s arrest in late November and found him around 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of East Bayshore Road in Redwood City.
Authorities said Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City. He is being held without bail, according to jail records.
The sheriff’s office did not release any other details about the case, including a possible motive.
