Suspect in stabbing outside El Cerrito del Norte BART station arrested
EL CERRITO — A San Francisco resident has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing Sunday on a Solano County transit bus outside a BART station, authorities said.
According to BART, the stabbing happened about 4:45 p.m. on a SolTrans bus that was outside the El Cerrito del Norte Station. The 46-year-old victim was expected to survive the injuries.
BART police responded and arrested a 42-year-old man. According to BART and jail records, police arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder, committing a hate crime with threats and false imprisonment.
Jail records stated the man remained in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility on Monday afternoon in lieu of $1.025 million bail.
According to BART, police are reviewing evidence, and the investigation is continuing. No other information was immediately available.
