Hot summer weekend gave way to scattered gusty storms
A hot, moderately humid Father’s Day (93 degrees) ended as expected with a patchwork of storms ahead of an upper-level disturbance moving up the Ohio River valley. Peak heating brought strong to locally severe storms, with warnings issued for a number of counties in western and southern Ohio, and then for Knox/Morrow counties this evening, for strong winds and possible hail.
Cooling tonight should quiet things down, but the pivoting impulse is still likely to bring scattered showers and maybe a rumble of thunder before moving northeast early Monday. If some sun breaks out in the afternoon, a few more pop-up storms will develop, but no organized storm lines are expected tomorrow.
A cold front will make a push across the state Tuesday, with more numerous showers and a few strong storms. Cooler and drier air will arrive Wednesday, with a passing shower and highs closer to 80. The next storm system to approach the region will bring some showers and storms heading into Friday.
