I-270 West near State Route 315 reopen after reported drive-by shooting
COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Part of Interstate 270 closed Thursday afternoon near its intersection with State Route 315 on the North Side after a drive-by shooting caused a traffic accident, police say. The freeway is now reopen.
According to Columbus police, the incident was originally reported as a single-car injury crash. When officers arrived, they realized the people inside had been shot.
Upon arrival, officers observed Santoriyon Rae Shawn Harris and Dominique Jordan Trent suffering from gunshot wounds. Trent was transported to Riverside Hospital in critical condition and treated by the emergency room staff, and Harris was transported to Ohio State University Hospital in critical condition and treated by emergency room staff.
Both victims were downgraded to stable condition after arriving at their respective Hospitals.
The second vehicle involved in the shooting incident was recovered shortly after the incident occurred with no suspect(s) description. This incident is not considered to be random but rather a targeted assault by mutual combatants
I-270 West was closed between Sawmill Road and U.S. 23. The ramps from 315 and U.S. 23 to I-270 West were also closed.
