FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Happy Monday!
If you can, get outside today to enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures. We are looking at close to the warmest day of the year thus far, with mainly sunny skies, and just a light wind. Highs top out in the lower to middle 60s for Columbus.
Changes arrive tomorrow as our next system makes its way into the Ohio River Valley. Expect Tuesday to start with a few scattered, light showers during the morning commute. We'll then see breaks in the showers through midday and early afternoon, before more rain, and thunderstorms, move in during the evening and overnight hours.
The Storm Prediction Center has our area under a "marginal" level 1-out-of-5 risk for severe weather for storms during the evening and overnight into Wednesday.
It is a low end risk due to timing of these storms, mainly arriving late and overnight, and losing some of their energy. But nonetheless, we will be watching for the potential of isolated wind damage, and hail.
We then see a transition from rain to a wintry mix and some light snow showers as temperatures fall throughout Wednesday. Only looking at very light accumulations, at best. Highs fall from the 60s Wednesday morning, through the 40s during the afternoon.
By Thursday, clouds begin to clear, but temperatures fall. Expect highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s in the city.
We start a warming trend once again on Friday, with highs in the lower 50s, and just an isolated shower chance as a quick ripple looks to work through the region.
The weekend looks pretty fantastic!
