How to get or renew a fishing or hunting license in Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Hunting and fishing licenses for 2024-25 are now on sale in Ohio from the Division of Wildlife.
Fishing licenses for Ohio residents are $25. They are valid for one year and can be purchased 30 days before their expiration date. For anyone older than 16 to fish in Ohio public waters, a fishing license is a requirement.
Hunting licenses for Ohio residents are $19 for adults and $10 for youth hunters. Licenses are valid immediately and last through Feb. 28, 2025. Regardless of age, everyone wanting to hunt or trap in Ohio is required to carry a license.
Multiyear hunting and fishing licenses are also available. Three-year, five-year, 10-year and lifetime licenses are all on sale.
Licenses can purchased on the Division of Wildlife's website, on the Department of Natural Resources' mobile app HuntFish OH or at participating agents statewide. Licensing agents can be found on the ODNR at this link.
The HuntFish OH mobile app allows deer and turkey hunters to check their harvest, allows anglers to find boat ramps, public waters, and wildlife areas, and allows users to purchase permits, report wildlife sightings and read regulations.
Funds from the sale of hunting and fishing licenses benefit wildlife management and habitat conservation efforts in Ohio. The money also helps support improvement to fishing access, shooting ranges and wildlife areas.
