Ohio ranks as one of the best states to travel to this summer, analysis finds
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A recently released study has named Ohio as one of the best road trip destinations in the country for those looking to travel this summer.
To discover the best summer road trip destinations, WalletHub compared all 50 states across three key dimensions: costs, safety and activities. The personal finance company analyzed multiple factors under each dimension. For example, the activities category considered the number of national parks, zoos and amusement parks per person, along with other factors.
Ohio ranked as the third-best road trip destination, boasting numerous options for restaurants and accommodations, as well as the second-highest number of summer fairs and festivals in the country, the study states.
“Ohio is the third-best state for summer road trips, faring well when it comes to the number of available attractions, especially things like zoos, botanical gardens and amusement parks,” the analysis reads. “There are plenty of things to make stops at for a day or even just a few hours while taking a road trip.”
Taking the No. 1 spot was Minnesota, which had the third-fewest vehicle fatalities per million miles traveled and relatively low hotel costs. The state also came in fourth for the amount spent on parks and recreation, making it “great for people who want to be outdoors,” according to WalletHub.
Completing the top 10 was New York at No. 2, Utah at No. 4, Louisiana at No. 5, Florida at No. 6, Idaho at No. 7, Texas at No. 8, North Carolina at No. 9 and Pennsylvania at No. 10.
