Woman accused in East Columbus triple shooting faces judge
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A woman charged in connection with a triple shooting in an East Columbus apartment complex was in court Friday morning.
According to court documents, 32-year-old Zandra Wignal is facing a murder charge after allegedly killing one and injuring two others at a residence in the Sterling Court Apartments near Stelzer Road on the east side of the city.
The shooting occurred at around 9:24 p.m. and officers found three victims at the scene. One woman, 22-year-old Janaysia Lews, was hospitalized in critical condition and later pronounced dead. The other two victims were shot in the foot and hand respectively and were in stable condition.
A CPD criminal complaint stated that Wignal admitted to shooting Lewis after Lewis reportedly shoved her in the face. Wignal then allegedly shot the other two women after they attempted to disarm her.
A Franklin County Municipal Court judge issued Wignal a $750,000 bond and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Sept. 26.
