Sen. Jon Husted and Ohio Gov. candidate Vivek Ramaswamy endorse each other

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Sen. Jon Husted and Vivek Ramaswamy, a candidate for Ohio governor, on Monday evening announced that they are endorsing each other for their respective races.

The Republican politicians held a meeting at The Boat House, a restaurant and event center at 679 W. Spring St. in Downtown Columbus, where Ramaswamy revealed he is endorsing Husted for Senate, and Husted said he is endorsing Ramaswamy for governor.

"Jon represents Ohio values, and he is a common-sense leader who I've known for years," Ramaswamy said. "He’s a fighter for our families and our freedoms, and he’ll carry Ohio’s voice to Washington without compromise."

President Trump and the Ohio GOP have also given endorsements for Husted and Ramaswamy's campaigns.

"Vivek has articulated bold ideas for our state, and I believe his vision for excellence aligns closely with the priorities Ohioans expect and deserve," Husted said. "I’m proud to endorse my friend Vivek Ramaswamy to be the next Governor of Ohio."

Husted has served as the junior United States senator from Ohio since January, after being appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine. His appointment followed the resignation of J.D. Vance, who became vice president of the United States. Husted intends to defend his seat against former Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat, in the November 2026 election.

Ramaswamy – a former presidential candidate and billionaire entrepreneur – is vying for the role of Ohio governor. Former Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton, a Democrat, is also running for the position.
