Live updates: Ohio State beats Purdue in penultimate road game of regular season
WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (WCMH) -- No. 1 Ohio State extended the nation's longest active win streak in college football to 13 games after the Buckeyes defeated Purdue, 34-10, at Ross-Ade Stadium on Saturday.
C.J. Donaldson scored two touchdowns while quarterback Julian Sayin threw for another to Jeremiah Smith, who led the receiving corps on a day when Carnell Tate was unexpectedly left on the sidelines. The Chicago-native reportedly felt tight during warmups and coach Ryan Day did not have Tate play as a precaution.
Sayin was challenged by the Boilermakers defense, throwing a rare interception and getting sacked twice. But the redshirt freshman still completed 27 of 33 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown.
Ohio State improves to 9-0 this season and will return to the Horseshoe next weekend to host UCLA in a primetime showdown that will be broadcast on NBC4.
