Why I left the two ‘best’ players off my imperfect Baseball Hall of Fame ballot

Nine players did get the Hall of Fame check mark on a ballot that contains only two players whose stats should make them slam-dunk, obvious Hall of Famers — yes, the two I omitted, Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez, because they took steroids.
