Canada announces Janice Charette as new chief trade negotiator to the US as tensions mount

Charette will act as a senior advisor to Carney and Dominic LeBlanc, the minister responsible for Canada-US trade on the upcoming review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement, a statement from the prime minister's office said.
