FBI investigating 'suspicious hunting stand' placed in sight of Trump arrival spot
FBI Director Kash Patel announced Sunday that his agency was actively investigating a "suspicious stand" that was positioned near Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, and with a "direct line of sight" to where President Donald Trump typically walks off of Air Force One when traveling from the White House to his Mar-a-Largo resort, Fox News reported.
The "suspicious stand," later determined to be a hunting stand, was discovered by U.S. Secret Service agents on Thursday, was made ahead of Trump's expected arrival, according to Patel, speaking with Fox News Digital.
"Prior to the President’s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone," Patel said. "No individuals were located at the scene. The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead, flying in resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deploying our cell phone analytics capabilities."
A law enforcement official, speaking with Fox News on the condition of anonymity, told the outlet that the hunting stand had been set up "months ago." No other details as to the investigation have been revealed, but USSS Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said that his agency was "working closely" with the FBI and local law enforcement to identify who may have set up the hunting stand.
