Do you have any link to prove or disprove which club(s) were the biggest draw in the Championship last season ?
As for SL clubs not wanting their players to be "taken" by TWP, aside from stoking wage inflation, I dont see TWP as the enemy here. Toronto, despite the "dreamers'" regular wet dreams about N. American TV deals etc, they appear not to be wanted by Sky and although this could theoretically change if we were to move to a different broadcaster, I dont believe there will ever be sufficient interest over there to negotiate any TV deal, other than pay per view for some of the locals.
Having said that, I still believe that there would have been some mileage in "promoting" Toulouse, which, although likely to cause competition with Catalan, in terms of 2 clubs fighting over a relatively small number of French SL standard players. This could have increased interest in the game over there, which could only be a good thing in the longer term and a genuine French "derby" game would be a great "draw".
.
Toronto aren't wanted by SKY your right, they want English clubs to get English subscribers. That won't change if say BT bought the rights as they too need English subscribers as you intimate. May I say that Eric Perez said there was no point to TWP in Superlegaue on their own, as they would not create enough interest to attract a TV deal as Mr. McDermott recently confirmed. Mr. Perez said at least 5 clubs needed to be North American to get an NA TV deal.
So we lost London for TWP, we now only need to lose Wakefield for Ottawa, Cas for New York, HKR for Montreal and Hull for Boston and then the North American clubs can get a TV deal.
But we will of course have lost ours at the point that Superleague has only 8 English clubs which is too little for SKY.
The Transatlantic thing has been argued for years but the simple fact is it can't work, you can't satisfy broadcasters both sides of the channel at the same time.
I am sure Eric Perez claimed a first for his Transatlantic idea, but is the man really so stupid as to not understand that broadcasters won't go for it. The fact is he is NOT stupid but he thinks RL people here are!! All his remit ever was I'm sure was to ensure Argylle got a Superleague side. perez knows all these phoney NA consortiums aren't goint to waste $$Millions year after year which is what Argyle is doing......
