Peter Weber's Indecision Was the Villain of Bachelor Season 24
Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor was a mess from start to finish. While fans were excited for the 28-year-old to find love, his journey was dominated by frustrating drama and petty fights. While fans blamed the younger group of women, many of whom looked like they were bred to become influencers, there was only one real villain on Peter Weber's season: the Bachelor's own indecision.
Like many of the most recent seasons of Bachelor Nation shows, Peter Weber's cast skewed a bit younger. Many of the women were in their early twenties and had yet to truly explore life and develop their own personalities. In addition, almost all of them appeared perfectly poised to become influencers after the show. While becoming a social media star is a common career path for Bachelor Nation contestants, the show leaned into that demographic this year, creating a cast of women that seemed more interested in promoting themselves, rather than advancing their relationship with Peter. Not a week went by that the women weren't screaming at each other, and there was rarely any true resolution to their fights. Despite their frustrating behavior, however, the women weren't really to blame.
Instead, Peter's own indecision created an environment that allowed the woman to run wild, with no trust at all in Peter's choices. Throughout his entire journey on The Bachelor, Peter couldn't make decisions for himself. Every season, the women in the house have some kind of conflict with one another that leads them to tell that Bachelor that so-and-so isn't there for the "right reasons." Most Bachelors brush off their complaints, only investigating the claims that sound fairly serious. Every time someone came to Peter with a complaint, however, he would dedicate all his time to trying to figure out what was going on. He played into the drama and allowed the women to sway his decisions, even when he didn't feel like he was doing the right thing. The conflict with Alayah Benavidez is a perfect example. Peter sent her home because the women told him she was no good, invited her back because Alayah asked him to, and then sent her home again when the women lashed out and threatened to leave.
Peter's indecision allowed the women to say and do whatever they wanted, knowing that Peter wouldn't take charge of the situation. While his attitude enabled the drama, it also made him the true villain in the end. When it finally came down to his final choice, Peter still couldn't decide. He allowed his opinion to be swayed by his mother, who practically begged him to propose to Hannah Ann. Then, when he realized he wasn't happy with her, he broke off their engagement. He tried to pursue Madison again, but it didn't even seem like he was fully committed to that relationship.
Peter's indecision has been the major source of this season's strife. Instead of pursuing what he wants with confidence, the Bachelor has been wishy-washy from the start. His words rarely align with his actions, and he's always willing to change his mind if someone tells him to. His uncertainty caused pain for many of the women on his season, most of all Hannah Ann who believed that they were going to get married. While plenty of people could technically be labeled as this season's villain, including Peter's own mother, the most egregious offender was The Bachelor, Peter, himself.
