Bachelor: Madison Prewett Regrets Not Telling Peter about Virginity Sooner
There's no doubt that Madison Prewett is one of the most popular contestants in the history of The Bachelor, even though Peter Weber's season just ended. She had so much fan support throughout the season and so much respect for speaking "her truth" and living her life in faith. Madison told Peter that she was saving herself for marriage during their fantasy suite date, and, of course, the producers made sure Madi's date was the last one for her big reveal. That's when Peter admitted that he had "been intimate" with some of the other girls. Understandably, Madison didn't love the idea of getting engaged to a man who had sex with someone (possibly two people) just a few days before.
However, Madison did catch some flack for when she revealed her virginity to Peter. While she didn't have any control over the order of the fantasy suite dates, she was there the whole season. She had two one-on-one dates and a hometown date before that. During their solo date in Peru, Madison emphasized how important religion is to her, which seemed like the perfect lead-in to mention her virginity, but she didn't say word. Oh, and let's not forget when she pulled him aside after getting that rose in a hangar. She mentioned that she wouldn't be able to move forward if he slept with someone else, but, again, she left out the part about saving herself. While there's nothing wrong with moving at her own pace and sharing her life when she felt comfortable doing so, some Bachelor fans wondered why she waited so long to open up.
Madison addressed this her first post-show interview with Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe for her Off the Vine podcast. Right off the bat, the Alabama native said, "I'll be the first to admit that I'm not perfect and I was not perfect throughout the process. I didn't handle everything perfectly." She also explained that she wanted to wait until she was comfortable to be so vulnerable with Peter and the millions of people who watch the show. Nevertheless, she did admit:
I probably should have shared it sooner and who knows if it would have made a difference? Of course, he's gonna argue that it might have made a difference, but I mean who knows? That wasn't the situation we were in and it wasn't what happened.
Specifically, she remarked, "I know a lot of people were like 'Why didn't you say it outside of the hanger that night?' And that's a valid point. What I will say is we were only out there for five minutes." She also said that she could see how much his breakup with Kelsey Weir affected him and added, "That's why I didn't do it then, but like I said, I probably should have." Madison went on to explain why she didn't tell him about her virginity during their discussion about faith in Peru. She recalled, "That's when he shared with me that he was falling in love with me, so it wasn't really the time to get into that kind of conversation."
When it comes down to it, what's done is done (or not done in this case). While many viewers wish Peter's season went differently - for a few reasons - this goes beyond a show. It's Madison's real life and her faith is very important to her. Nevertheless, she might have been able to bypass that finale tongue lashing from Barb Weber if she laid her cards out on the table sooner, but who really knows? It's all hypothetical at this point. As of now, Madison is thriving in her post-Bachelor life while Peter gets roasted for awkward TikTok videos and his quarantine romance with Kelley Flanagan.
