90 Day Fiancé: Legality Of Angela’s Nigerian Marriage To Michael Debated
Angela Deem is receiving plenty of viewer backlash for her behavior on the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6 Tell-All, but some viewers are looking into her statement about her marriage legality. Angela's furious behavior and shocking move to flash the camera her breast augmentation has been the main discussion point among 90 Day Fiancé fans. However, viewers are now questioning if Angela was correct about her marriage to Nigerian Michael Ilesanmi not being recognized in the United States.
The American grandmother behaved deplorably during Happily Ever After season 6. While Michael remains in Nigeria awaiting news of his U.S. visa, Angela poured all of her resources into a weight loss and plastic surgery transformation. Angela then used her remaining energy to be verbally abusive towards her husband and even try to illegally track him. With their marriage now in shambles, Angela made a shocking announcement during the Tell-All. She declared that she wouldn't even be pursuing a divorce against Michael since she only married him in Nigeria and their marriage was not recognized in the United States.
One fan took to the r/90dayfianceuncensored Reddit to question what Angela said about her marriage. "Anybody know if Angela is correct about her Nigerian wedding not being legal? wasn’t she trying for a spousal visa???" the user asked. Many viewers were under the impression that the couple was awaiting news on their spousal visa, which can take multiple years to be approved. Angela's statement that her marriage wasn't legal in the United States therefore contradicted the narrative that Angela and TLC have put out for the past year and a half since the couple was married. Angela and Michael have also referred to themselves as husband and wife since the wedding and as they await word on Michael's visa.
Commenters came to the conclusion that either Angela was currently lying or that she has been for the past year and a half. "I think she was just talking out of her butt at that point," one viewer wrote. Angela's angry and erratic behavior has isolated her from her former fanbase and created an environment of fear. Though the Happily Ever After cast was called out for not holding Angela accountable, viewers have noted that everyone appears to be afraid of Angela and her intense anger. Others wondered if TLC has been deceptive. "If it was a legal marriage in Nigeria it is a legal marriage in the US," another user wrote. While some questioned if Angela had revealed that she had faked her entire plot line, others thought she was just being angry and making things up.
Overall, Angela's anger issues have caused viewers to furiously demand she be canceled from the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. Happily Ever After season 6 let many viewers down with its scripted, stale, and repetitive plot lines. Angela's plastic surgery focus was particularly called out for moving far away from the show's original examination of K-1 fiancé visas. Many viewers believe the 90 Day Fiancé franchise needs to get back on track. Fans are hoping that 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 7 will feature a new cast altogether.
