Spider-Man & Strangers Things Stars Cast In New Teen Comedy Movie
Gaten Matarazzo of Stranger Things and Angourie Rice of Spider-Man: No Way Home have been cast in a new Paramount+ teen comedy. The new project is right in both of their wheelhouses, as Matarazzo and Rice are well-known for playing teenagers on screen.
Deadline reports that the two will appear together in Honor Society, which stars Rice as high school senior Honor. Honor is determined to do anything she can to get into Harvard, but she'll need the recommendation from her school guidance counselor (portrayed by Superbad star Christopher Mintz-Plasse) to do so.
In Honor Society, Matarazzo takes on the role of Michael, Honor's biggest competitor for Mr. Calvin's recommendation. The film is directed by Oran Zegman and written by David A. Goodman. While no official release date has been announced, it will likely release sometime in 2022 on Paramount+.
Without even seeing a trailer for Honor Society, it's pretty easy to see the appeal to studio heads. Matarazzo is a well-known actor, mostly thanks to his endearing portrayal of Dustin in Stranger Things. And Rice is not only coming off of her role as Betty Brant in Tom Holland's MCU Spider-Man trilogy, but has also starred in productions like The Nice Guys and Mare of Easttown. Combined with a comedy vet Mintz-Plasse, known better as Superbad's McLovin, it sounds like a recipe for a solid movie with more than a few jokes that will have audiences laughing out loud.
