Scores of people have fled to government-held areas in northern Syria. Syrian state TV reported Friday that about 4,000 people had relocated ahead of a possible attack by Syrian troops on Kurdish-led fighters. Many civilians used side roads to reach safety because the main highway has ben blocked. The Syrian army has signaled plans for an offensive by announcing that civilians can evacuate through a humanitarian corridor. Tensions have risen after clashes in the city of Aleppo and stalled negotiations between Damascus and the SDF. The United States is urging calm and remains in contact with all parties.
