Yemeni politicians have met in Saudi Arabia's capital for the first time since a sourthern separatist group was disbanded. The meeting in Riyadh on Sunday focused on the future of southern Yemen ahead of a Saudi-sponsored conference. The separatist demands are part of a complex civil war that began in 2014 when Houthi rebels seized the capital, Sanaa. Saudi Arabia had bombed the Southern Transitional Council, backed by the United Arab Emirates, after it refused to withdraw from areas it seized. The meeting included members of the STC leadership, aiming to show unity and seek a solution for southern Yemen.
