Syrian government forces and Kurdish fighters have clashed around two prisons i housing members of the Islamic State group in Syria’s northeast. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces report several of its fighters have been killed and over a dozen wounded. The fighting follows recent clashes where the SDF ceded areas to the Syrian army. Gunmen abduct over 150 worshippers from 3 churches in Nigeria

Explosion in a restaurant in Afghan capital kills at least 7 and injures a dozen more

An explosion in downtown Kabul on Monday has killed at least seven people and wounded about a dozen more, according to police and an Italian charity. The blast occurred in a Chinese restaurant in the Shahr-e-Naw district. The restaurant was jointly owned by an Afghan man, a Chinese national and his wife. The Italian charity EMERGENCY said its surgical center received 20 people from the blast, including seven who were already dead. Those injured included four women and a child. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
