Kate Middleton Reacts to Fan Shouting at Her at Wimbledon
Kate Middleton was in high spirits at Wimbledon and had a sweet rapport with the adoring crowd at the Men’s Singles Final.
The Princess of Wales was at the final of the Grand Slam tennis tournament in London on July 13, where she watched the match before heading down to Centre Court to award the trophies to the first-place finisher, Jannik Sinner of Italy, and the runner-up, Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.
As she stepped out onto Centre Court to shake hands with ball boys and girls and make her way over to award trophies, a fan shouted from the stands, “I love you, Kate!” The poised Princess, 43, of course stuck with her royal training and didn’t have too much of a reaction, but did let out a laugh in response, per People.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been a staple at Wimbledon finals since 2016, when Queen Elizabeth first appointed her as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. Even before taking on this official role, Kate regularly attended the tennis tournament after marrying Prince William in 2011.
This year, it was a family affair as she was joined by her husband, Prince William, and the couple brought along their elder two children, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, who showed off her chic style. William and Kate’s youngest son, 7-year-old Louis, didn’t join his older siblings.
In 2024, Kate received a standing ovation when she showed up to the Wimbledon Men’s Final after taking a step back from Royal duties amid her cancer diagnosis. In the year since, Kate has been slowly returning to public duties and recently opened up about struggling to find balance after completing chemotherapy.
“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” Kate said during a July 2 official visit to Colchester Hospital in Essex. “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”
Kate has been in remission since January 2025.
