As a shopping editor, I’ve been lucky enough to try all kinds of products throughout my career, especially in the world of beauty. Because of that, a product needs to be truly special in order to leave me totally impressed. Just recently, I was given an opportunity to try out a brand new dermatologist-developed hair mask that’s said to do a lot of incredible for your hair in just five minutes. Since this summer has dried my hair out like crazy, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and give it a try.
The SEEN Frizz + Repair Treatment Mask is described as an “intensive” treatment mask that fights frizz and helps repair damage in as little as five minutes. It’s great for all hair types and is safe for all skin types to use, even those with sensitive, acne, or eczema-prone skin. It’s made of ingredients such as hemisqualane, squalane, and brisabalol, all of which are natural and work together to give your hair a healthy-looking, “glass-like” shine and softness.
“I set out to create a treatment mask that delivers transformative results — targeting both frizz and damage repair — in just five minutes,” Dr. Iris Rubin, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of SEEN, tells SheKnows. “We also offer a fragrance-free option, which is a rare find in salon-quality haircare.”
SEEN Frizz + Repair Treatment Mask Review

Before I used the repair mask, I didn’t really any have any expectations for what it could do. I’ve personally never heard of the brand before it came across my inbox, but I was intrigued by the fact that it was sold at Ulta and their products were “dermatologist-designed.” Plus, the summer has made my hair super dry and crunchy, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give it a test run.
I was given both the original and fragrance-free bottles to try. The latter was made particularly for those who are sensitive to fragrances, though both products are said to be good for sensitive skin. I’ve never really experienced any breakouts with haircare products, so I went with the original. The scent is fairly subtle, so if you aren’t too sensitive to fragrances, you should be fine. It has notes of apple dew, orange peel, lily of the valley, crushed violet, and white musks, among others. I like the scent. It is pretty subtle for me, but it’s a good fresh scent.
When it comes to actually using the product, it’s honestly the same as any other hair mask. After shampooing my hair, I applied the SEEN Frizz + Repair Treatment Mask from the ends and worked my way up. The directions recommend applying a “generous amount” from mid-length to your ends, and then leaving it on for five minutes. And no, I did not use a conditioner (though in the FAQ, the brand says you can apply some conditioner post-treatment mask if your hair needs a little more help).
As far as results go, I was actually pretty impressed and somewhat shocked at how well it worked. If I’m being completely honest, the product itself had a consistency more like a conditioner than thicker treatment masks I’ve used before. I also didn’t feel like it smoothed my hair in the shower immediately like other products have done.
However, as the saying goes, “trust the process” — and that definitely proved true in this case.
After letting my hair air dry, I noticed how soft and smooth it had gotten. Not only that, I had several people comment on how shiny and healthy my hair looked. Total win — especially since I didn’t put anything else to style it afterwards. The treatment mask also helped make my wavy hair look cute and fairly put together, which is honestly, all a lazy girl like me can really hope for.
With all that said, I do feel like SEEN’s Frizz + Repair Treatment Mask is totally worth trying, especially if you’re looking to reverse any damage this summer has done to your hair fast. It’s an excellent treatment mask that actually works, and at $36, it is relatively affordable compared to similar products out there. So, be sure to grab yourself a bottle today.
