Experts Reveal What Prince Archie’s Latest Endeavor Says About His Budding Personality
Unlike his royal cousins, 6-year-old Prince Archie has mostly been hidden from public life. We completely get the need to protect his privacy — especially since his parents are no longer working royals — but we still love learning little tidbits about his life and personality. Recently, experts weighed in on his latest endeavor, and it sounds so much like his dad Prince Harry.
Earlier this month, TMZ obtained photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle watching their son take surfing lessons at Santa Claus Beach in Carpinteria, California. (Their daughter Princess Lilibet, 4, was not pictured.) And now, an expert weighed in on what this means for Prince Archie’s personality.
Dr. Amanda Gummer, Chair of the Association of Play Industries and Founder of FUNdamentally Children, chatted with HELLO! about all the benefits kids can get from surfing — and what this means for Archie’s personality. In addition to a great workout and swimming confidence, surfing also helps emotional development.
“Surfing helps [kids] focus, stay present, and manage their emotions,” she told the outlet. “It builds resilience, as learning to surf involves a lot of falling off and getting back up again. Children feel a real sense of achievement when they catch a wave, which can do wonders for their confidence.”
Prince Harry knows all too well the importance of building resilience, as he’s had many ups and downs in his life and with his relationship with his family. It’s no surprise that he would hope his son learns these skills as well.
Additionally, Dr. Gummer shared what surfing means for Archie’s personality. “If a child chooses a solo sport like surfing, it often means they enjoy their own company and are comfortable setting personal challenges,” she told the outlet. “Surfing can help children develop independence, patience, and self-motivation.” Yep, just like his dad!
Prince Archie turned 6 in May, and his mom shared a beautiful shot of her tall, red-headed boy on a balcony overlooking the ocean. “Our son. Our sun,” Markle wrote on Instagram. ” … Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?”
“(And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special ❤️),” she added.
He’s growing up, learning new things, and enjoying a quiet California life with his family. It sounds idyllic!
