Brandon Blackstock Was Dating Kelly Clarkson’s 'Beautiful & Loving' Former Assistant Before His Death
Kelly Clarkson‘s late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, was in a relationship with her former assistant before his death.
An obituary for the 48-year-old talent manager, who died on August 7 after a battle with skin cancer, revealed the identity of his partner, Brittney Marie Jones, describing her as “his beautiful and loving partner in life and business.”
A December 2024 report from The Sun, described Jones as a “former assistant” to Clarkson while she was being managed by her then-husband. Blackstock and Clarkson, 43, were married from 2013 until 2020, during which time he served as her talent manager.
According to The Sun, Jones described her work for Clarkson in her LinkedIn profile, which states, “I successfully assistant managed day to day for artist, Kelly Clarkson under manager, Brandon Blackstock in Los Angeles for music and television.”
“After a change in management for Ms. Clarkson I transitioned to Executive Assistant for Mr. Blackstock’s cattle operation in Montana where I currently run the office and administration work,” the profile continues. “I also currently fulfill personal assistant duties for Mr. Blackstock.”
Per Blackstock’s obituary, he and Jones worked together to found Headwaters Livestock Auction and The Valley View Rodeo, both of which were founded in 2023. It’s unclear when Jones and Blackstock started dating.
Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, with whom she shares two children, in June 2020. In their two-year divorce battle, the two fought over ownership of their $10 million Montana ranch, which was ultimately awarded to the singer. Blackstock was found to have a 5.12% ownership but was ordered to move out. He later purchased another ranch in Butte, Montana, per Us Weekly.
Blackstock’s death was revealed in an August 7 statement from his family. “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” read the statement. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
The news came the day after Clarkson revealed his illness while announcing that she was postponing her Las Vegas residency to be at home with her children.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” her statement read. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
