Skechers Is Helping Parents Keep Track of Their Kids in a Discreet Way — & as a Mom of 3, I’m on Board

With school phone bans going into effect across the country this fall — and more research revealing the risks of cell phones for kids — it can be harder than ever to keep up with what (or where) your kids are up to. If you normally keep an eye on their location as they’re walking home or rely on a text knowing they made it to school safely, then not having a phone can throw you for a loop. Trust me, as a mom of three, two of which are elementary school age, I get it. But short of putting our kids in bubbles to keep them safe, what’s a parent to do?

It turns out, Skechers has created an innovative (and discreet) new way for parents to keep track of their kids as they head back to school, and I am very excited about this.

The popular sneaker brand launched a line of Find My Skechers shoes designed for toddlers and older kids that are just as colorful and cool as any of their other sneakers. These shoes, named after Apple’s Find My iPhone, have a hidden compartment inside the sole that will fit an Apple AirTag. This allows parents or other authorized users to use their phone to see exactly where their kids’ shoes are located.

Now you can know when they arrive home or to school without a text, and god forbid an accident or emergency happens, then you’ll be easily able to find them.

In addition to keeping up with your kids’ physical location, these Skechers have another benefit: they can help you find lost shoes. If your kids are anything like mine, they lose their items constantly. Water bottles, homework, sweatshirts, and yes, even shoes get lost at school or around the house. So, added benefit: the AirTag can help your child find their shoes during a hectic morning routine.

If you want to try these out with your kids, first, you’ll need to buy an AirTag separately. (You can get one on Amazon for $24.) Then, connect it to your Find My app to keep track of it. The AirTag’s replaceable battery lasts for over a year, so it should stay good until your kids need new shoes.
