Brandon Blackstock's Relationship With Kelly Clarkson's Assistant Started as an Affair, Says Source

A source claims that Brandon Blackstock’s relationship with Kelly Clarkson’s former assistant began as an affair.

Page Six reports that Brittney Marie Jones, who once worked as Clarkson’s production assistant, began her relationship with the American Idol alum’s husband while she was allegedly still in a relationship with her then-husband, Greg LaPoint.

“He got screwed over due to [Jones and Blackstock’s] fling starting during his marriage,” the source alleges.

LaPoint, who married Jones in 2021, allegedly learned about Jones and Blackstock’s relationship in the summer of 2023. He reportedly asked her to file for divorce immediately. She did so on July 13, 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences,” per court records obtained by Page Six. She listed their date of separation as January 2023. However, LaPoint posted a happy photo of them together that month, according to Page Six.

Several sources told Page Six that Blackstock did not cheat on Clarkson, who filed for divorce from the late talent manager in June 2020. His relationship with Clarkson was over “long before” he started dating Jones.

Jones worked as a production assistant for Clarkson from 2016 to 2018 before she moved to an assistant role at Blackstock’s Starstuck Entertainment, managing Blackstock’s schedule as well as that of his then-wife.

When Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2023, Jones began a role as an assistant at Blackstock’s Montana ranch.

Blackstock and Jones’ relationship was first revealed publicly in an obituary for the manager-turned-rancher who died on August 7 after a years-long battle with cancer. Jones was identified as his “beautiful and loving partner in life and business.”

Jones’ father wrote a now-deleted Facebook post to honor his daughter’s partner on August 8. “Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock my daughter’s soulmate and I considered him my son,” he wrote in the post.

This week, sources also confirmed that Clarkson had been aware of Blackstock’s relationship with Jones for years and described it as “just the icing on the cake of the disappointment [Clarkson] felt over the delusion of their marriage.”

“Brandon chose to move on with someone Kelly knew and trusted, and that just adds to the person he ended up being to her. He was a great father, but wasn’t a great husband,” the insider added.

Clarkson has yet to speak about the death of her children’s father, but has canceled several upcoming work commitments. Blackstock and Clarkson shared a daughter, River Rose, and a son, Remington. He was also a father to another daughter, Savannah, and a son, Seth, from his first marriage.
