Prince William and Prince Andrew are reportedly embroiled in a lesser-known Royal feud, and it may all be over “nasty” comments the Duke of York allegedly made about his nephew’s wife.
The disgraced younger brother of King Charles has been absent from public royal duties since 2022, when he was embroiled in a civil lawsuit from Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was sex trafficked to Andrew by convicted sex offenders Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew settled that lawsuit out of court, paying Giuffre an undisclosed sum.
While his older brother has yet to completely exile him from the family, a new book about Andrew, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, claims William “has long worked behind the scenes to evict his uncle from Royal Lodge.”
According to the book’s author, Andrew Lownie, their issues allegedly stem from “rude” and “nasty” comments Andrew has made about Kate Middleton.
“I can’t see how anyone could make unkind comments about Kate when she’s been the family’s saving grace. It surprised me, but people do get jealous,” Lownie claimed in an interview with Radar Online.
A source told the outlet that the British public’s love for Kate unearthed a jealous streak in the controversial prince, who is described a “entitled” and “unruly” in the book. “Andrew always thought he would be the golden boy of the royal family, as, despite his faults, he was Queen Elizabeth’s favorite son,” the source said. “But he has seen Kate rise to that position due to her grace, composure and lack of scandals – and he is furious she has put him to even more shame.”
William doesn’t have the same loyalty to Andrew as his father and Queen Elizabeth’s other children, Princess Anne and Prince Edward. Per the biographer, the future king has grown weary of his uncle’s scandals and can’t wait to officially throw him out of his royal lodgings.
“William has a very strong sense of public duty and is doing his best to keep the show on the road,” Lownie added. “He’s all about doing things the right way and has enough on his plate without having to think about his uncle.”
Reports about William and Andrew’s strained relationship have circulated for quite some time, with sources noting in January that the Duke of York’s many scandals have “caused panic in the palace.”
