Drew Scott Asks Followers If His Daughter’s Latest Habit Is ‘Normal’ & the Comments Are Gold
What do parents do when they discover their child doing something odd? They crowd-source advice, of course! Whether you turn to your village or strangers on the internet, we are always looking for tips (and validation) on parenting. And celebrities are no different. Drew Scott just asked his 2.7 million Instagram followers if his daughter Piper’s latest habit is “normal,” and the comments are just as reassuring as they are hilarious.
The HGTV star shared a candid video of his 1-year-old daughter on Instagram today. The candid clip was taken in the evening, with the lights down low and Piper’s unicorn PJs on. At first, it looks like Piper is simply standing next to a little dinosaur chair with her head resting in her arms on the chair. But upon closer inspection, we find out that Piper is actually sleeping!
“I don’t think she’s ready for bed,” Scott quips as he gets closer to his daughter. He then calls her name and nothing. Not a flinch or a giggle — and no 1-year-old is capable of pretending for that long! She’s fully in snooze-town, and it’s so stinkin’ cute.
In the caption, Scott wrote, “Is sleep standing normal? #parenting” He also asked in text over the video for parents to share “the funniest place you’ve found your kids asleep in.” These parents did not hold back!
“Mine youngest would sleep in the hallway so you would have to step over him to use the bathroom. ????” one person shared.
“My son fell asleep on his potty chair,” another said. “I have a picture somewhere…he’s 28 now & we still tease him about it.”
“My oldest fell asleep on the stairs when she was a toddler ????” someone else wrote. Someone else said, “One of my sons fell asleep while eating chips, I have a photo with a chip just hanging out of his mouth sitting on the couch. Another son of mine just decided to sleep on the dining room floor. ????????” So cute!
I’ve experienced this too with my own kids. One of my kids used to fall asleep on the floor by his bedroom door so he could look out and see anyone walking past his room. Another recently fell asleep on the hard kitchen chair. Yet, adults can’t sleep unless all the conditions are perfect, which is so unfair!
The Property Brothers star shares Piper and son Parker, 3, with wife Linda Phan. In an interview with Collider in 2024, Scott shared how much his kids love each other (that is, now that Parker’s gotten used to Piper). “At first, he was a little trepidatious. He didn’t know what to expect,” Scott said. “It’s almost like he thought she was gonna hurt him or something, and then he was getting a little jealous. ‘Who’s this lady coming along and stealing my time? I’m the most important one in this house.’”
“Now he’s at the point where he seems to just want to spend every minute with her,” Scott added. “He wants to nuzzle up with her and kiss her hand or her head and kind of pet her and stuff like that. It’s really adorable to see the two of them together.”
