Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Daughter Turns 16 & Fans Are Calling Her Birthday Present a ‘Full Circle Buffy Moment'
Sweet sixteen and ready to hunt vampires! Would you expect anything less from Sarah Michelle Gellar’s daughter?! The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum just gifted her daughter Charlotte the coolest 16th birthday present gift that fans are calling a “full circle Buffy moment.”
“16 years ago today, you made me a mom,” the I Know What You Did Last Summer actress wrote on Instagram today. “I believe the quote is … a daughter is just a little girl who grows up to be your best friend. Charlotte, you are that and so much more.”
In the caption, Gellar, who shares Charlotte and son Rocky, 12, with husband Freddie Prinze Jr., praised how “strong,” “inspiring,” “kind,” and “funny” her daughter is, cheekily adding, “almost as funny as me ????.”
“Most importantly you are one of a kind, the best kind,” Gellar added. “Im so lucky to call you my best friend. And I’m equally excited to finally be your passenger PRINZEss ❤️.”
“Passenger PRINZEss?” We love the punny phrase! And Gellar wasn’t just referencing the fact that Charlotte is 16 and old enough to get her license. She is also referring to the fact that her daughter has her very own car!
Every good vampire slayer knows the importance of a reliable car. That’s why Buffy (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) drove her mom’s 1993 Jeep Cherokee — and why Gellar just gifted her in-real-life daughter a new Jeep for her birthday. How cool is that? Gellar shared pictures of the black Jeep with a big red bow on the hood, as well as throwback photos of Charlotte as a baby.
People were jealous (understandably so!) and excited about this Buffy reference. “100k jeep for a 16 year old?! Wow! I grew up in the wrong family ????” one person wrote. Outer Banks actress Madelyn Cline commented, “Hbd beautiful girl!!!!” and “I want to be charlotte when i grow up.”
Brenda Song wrote, “Happy birthday, Charlotte!!”
“Yay she can drive a Jeep just like you did in ‘band candy’ when you took your mom’s Jeep Cherokee. Full circle Buffy moment,” another wrote. Someone else said, “In every generation a slayer is born…????”
In an interview with SheKnows in May, Gellar shared one piece of parenting advice that has stuck with her over the years. “I’m not big on advice, but someone gave me this advice when my kids were babies. And it was the best advice I ever got, which was to add ‘for now’ to the end of every sentence,” she told us.
“What I realized as a parent is you always have to add ‘for now’ because ‘My kids are rolling their eyes for now,’ ‘My daughter doesn’t wanna spend time with me for now,’ and ‘My son is challenging my authority for now,’ because it all that stuff will change,” she added.
