Kevin Federline Reveals How Much He Child Support Got After Britney Spears Divorce — What He Left Out
Kevin Federline revealed how much child support he received after his divorce from Britney Spears, but there are a couple of details about their settle that the famed dancer omitted.
Federline, 47, who shares two son with Spears, 43, shares details about their divorce in his forthcoming memoir, You Thought You Knew. Spears and Federline were married from September 2004 until she filed for divorce in November 2006. They co-parent sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.
How Much Child Support Did Kevin Federline Get?
Federline writes in his book that he was awarded $20,000 per month in child support for their two sons and another $20,000 per month in alimony for half the duration of their 26-month marriage.
Federline mentioned a settlement but left out the amount. However, when their divorce was finalized in 2007, Reuters reported that Federline received close to $1.3 million from Spears in addition to monthly payments.
In his book, Federline writes that a lawyer advised him to take his divorce settlement and “put it somewhere safe where it can grow,” but he thought he didn’t needed to “worry about that” because he would “make another million in no time.”
However, he added that “the money didn’t stretch as far as you’d think,” citing rent, transportation, security, childcare “and all the other day-to-day needs of raising two kids in LA.”
After their divorce, Federline and Spears entered a bitter custody battle which ended in 2008. Federline was granted sole custody when Spears was placed under a conservatorship. A court decided that Spears would receive two visits and one overnight per week.
In his upcoming memoir, Federline shares details about years of challenges he faced while co-parenting with Spears, including a claim that the “Circus” singer would stand in their son’s bedroom with a knife. “They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” Federline wrote. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”
Federline raised concerns for his ex’s well being while admitting that he hasn’t spoken directly to her in years.
“It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK,” he wrote. “From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”
A representative for Spears responded to Federline’s claims in a statement to Page Six. “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” the statement read.
“All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism,” the statement said.
