Joshua Jackson & Jodie Turner-Smith Are Doing a 180 in Their Divorce: 'We Had a Beautiful Moment Together'
Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith made a drastic decision to call off an upcoming divorce trial two years into proceedings.
Per Us Weekly, the 39-year-old British actress’ legal team filed court documents this week to request that an upcoming trial over custody of her and Jackson’s daughter be removed from the court’s calendar.
In the filing, Turner-Smith said she worked out a deal with Jackson, 47, who agreed to figure out a custody deal for their daughter, 5-year-old Juno, outside of the courtroom.
The Queen & Slim actress’ lawyer wrote: “[Turner-Smith and Jackson] are in the process of negotiating a custody judgment. The parties will return to the [a private judge they hired] to resolve any impasses in the proposed custody judgment.”
Turner-Smith filed for divorce from Jackson in October 2023 after four years of marriage. She broke her silence on their split in February 2024, calling their marriage a “beautiful moment.”
“Sometimes things we really want to work just don’t end up working. And that’s OK,” she told The Times. “I don’t think it’s a failure. We obviously had such a beautiful moment together. And now it’s time for a new moment for both of us. And how exciting!”
Jackson and Turner-Smith finalized their divorce in May 2025, agreeing to 50/50 custody of Juno but things appeared to turn sour when they couldn’t agree on where their daughter should go to school.
Jackson rejected his ex-wife’s choice of school and her proposal that Juno should remain with her while she works overseas. He wrote in a letter to Turner-Smith, “I don’t think it’s good for Juno to go for as long as you have proposed without seeing either parent, whenever it is reasonably possible for us to avoid without putting undue stress on Juno.”
He added, “I think that maximizing that frequent, continuing and meaningful contact should be our guiding light through all of these conversations and planning of parenting time. Juno needs both of us. Ideally exactly equally.”
In a response obtained by Us Weekly, Turner-Smith said she was “glad we agree that our shared goal is to provide Juno with as much stability, consistency and meaningful time with both of us as possible,” but rejected Jackson’s comments about extended overseas travel.
“She’s excited about our travel plans, and I believe this stretch of time will allow her to feel deeply grounded and connected during a season that’s naturally more open and flexible,” she wrote.
