What Did Millie Bobby Brown Accuse David Harbour of Doing on 'Stranger Things' Set?
Amid his highly tumultuous divorce from Lily Allen, David Harbor has been hit with another controversy. This time, it’s from his on-screen daughter, Millie Bobby Brown.
In details obtained by DailyMail, Brown reportedly filed a lengthy complaint about Harbour before they started filming the final season of Stranger Things.
“Millie Bobby Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim before they started shooting the last season,” an inside source told the outlet. “There were pages and pages of accusations. The investigation went on for months.”
While the outcome of the investigation and the details surrounding the bullying claims are unknown, we do know that a personal representative allegedly accompanied Brown on set at all times while she was filming.
What Did Millie Bobby Brown Accuse David Harbour Of?
It’s unclear exactly what Brown is accusing Harbour of. Her filing allegedly details “harassment and bullying” but did not include allegations of sexual impropriety.
Since 2016, Brown has played Eleven on the series while Harbour plays her father figure, police chief Jim Hopper. When the show premiered, Brown was 12, while Harbour was 41.
The actor has opened up about feeling protective of Brown because she was so young when the show began.
“Millie and I have always had sort of a special relationship because I knew her when she was so young. I knew her before any of this big fame hit,” Harbour said on an episode of the That Scene with Dan Patrick podcast in 2021. “I have a real protective feeling for her. I have a real, like, worry,” he continued. “I worry about her and the fame and all that she has to struggle with.”
Harbour also spoke about arguing with Brown on set in a 2019 interview with Yahoo! Entertainment. “She’s just wacky… we have an almost father-daughter relationship where like, she’s so precocious, and I’m such a grumpy curmudgeon, that it’s just us kind of arguing with each other,” said Harbour.
“I care about her a lot and I think she’s making some good decisions and some bad decisions, and I’m very able to voice that to her and she’s very able to argue back with me,” he said.
This isn’t the first time bullying accusations have circled the set of the Netflix show. In 2018, a woman who worked on the set alleged that she “witnessed two men in high positions of power on that set seek out and verbally abuse multiple women,” per CBS News.
While she didn’t name names, the show’s creators, Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, responded to the claims in a statement. “We are deeply upset to learn that someone felt uncomfortable on our set. Due to the high-stress nature of production, tempers occasionally get frayed, and for that, we apologize. However, we think it is important not to mischaracterize our set, where we believe strongly in treating everyone fairly regardless of gender, orientation, race, religion, or anything else. We remain totally committed to providing a safe and collaborative working environment for everyone on our productions,” the statement read.
Netflix said they investigated the matter and “found no wrongdoing.”
